Out of the Mouths of Babes
"Although there is still discrimination and prejudice, there is also love and acceptance."
A sixth-grade teacher showed her class a video titled, "Why I Think the World Should End," which described many of the problems and evils in today's world. After they watched the negative film, she assigned her students to write an essay about whether or not they agreed with the content. A young man named Gabriel was one of only two students who disagreed with the film's message. He wrote,
Just because there is so much bad in the world does not mean that there is no goodness and not one kind person. Just because the oceans are polluted and people are suffering does not mean that there is no Charity for people in need, and that there are no good things being done to help others. Although there is still discrimination and prejudice, there is also love and acceptance. Not everybody is evil. Evil is just one of Earth's stereotypes. Just because people are dying of disease does not mean nobody is working on a cure. People around the world are being hurt both physically and mentally, but there are still people trying to help. Nobody has to carry hurt with them everywhere they go.
When Gabriel read his essay to his classmates, he received a standing ovation.
